Jewel – “Hands”

I love the line “I won’t be made useless/won’t be idle with despair.” Something to remember.

Christ is Risen! (Music on Monday)

In the Christian world, Pascha (Easter) is the greatest celebration of all, even eclipsing Christmas. Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ, our Savior, who was born of a virgin. Easter, though, celebrates the resurrection of Christ from the dead, and in so, the destruction of death itself, and the foreshadowing of the final destruction of evil. Every Sunday is a little bit of a reminder of this, but Easter is the pinnacle of this.

Forgive me for the “blog silence” as well… Things just get crazy, and it’s hard to sit down and write!

The Lighthouse Family – “(I Wish I Knew How it Would Feel to Be) Free”

Back to the theme of freedom.

Galatians 5:1 (OSB) Paul writes- “Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.”

Considering that slavery was common back then, and considering that many of the people hearing the Word would have been slaves, to modern sensibilities, this may sound ludicrous. How can this apply to someone enslaved?

And yet, I don’t know if there is such a thing as a life lived without history, without consequences, and without constraints. Part of living, I suppose, is choosing these things carefully, and choosing things that we are the master of rather than things that we are destined to be controlled by. In our own lives, wherever we may be, we’ve got to create that place, even if it’s only in our heads, where we are free, where there is comfort in embracing the Truth (for we know the Truth sets us free).
